Florida's Tribal Casinos — Seminole Hard Rock and Beyond
Florida is a tribal-only casino state. The Seminole Tribe runs the show — and the Guitar Hotel is now a national landmark.
Florida licenses casinos only on tribal land. The Seminole Tribe of Florida operates seven properties including the headline Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood (the Guitar Hotel) and Seminole Hard Rock Tampa. The Miccosukee Tribe runs Miccosukee Resort & Gaming (west of Miami). Plus pari-mutuel cardrooms (Magic City Casino, Calder, Hialeah) which run poker but no slots/tables. Sports betting via Hard Rock Bet (mobile in-state).
Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood — the Guitar Hotel
In Hollywood, FL between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The 450-foot guitar-shaped hotel tower opened 2019 and instantly became the most photographed casino building outside Vegas. ~3,200 slots, ~190 tables. Multiple restaurants. The Hard Rock Live arena. Among the most ambitious tribal builds anywhere in the US.
Seminole Hard Rock Tampa
The original Hard Rock-branded Seminole property. ~5,000 slots — one of the highest slot counts in the eastern US. ~180 tables. Smaller hotel than Hollywood; bigger gaming floor.
Other Seminole properties
Miccosukee Resort & Gaming
The other tribal operator. Smaller scale; west of Miami at the edge of the Everglades. Slot-focused; more of a regional player.
Cardrooms — poker without casino
Florida pari-mutuels (Magic City Casino, Calder Casino, Tampa Bay Downs, Hialeah Park) operate cardrooms with poker but no slots or table games. If you want a poker-only night, these are options.
Sports betting and iGaming
Hard Rock Bet (Seminole-affiliated) is the primary mobile sportsbook in Florida; sports betting was relaunched after the legal saga ended in 2023. No legal mobile casino games in FL as of early 2026.
What we'd do
For a beach + casino weekend: Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood. The Guitar Hotel is genuinely worth the visit.
For a Tampa-based trip: Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.
Don't fly to Florida just for the casinos — pair with beach, the Keys, Disney/Universal, or a Miami weekend.
